Life often takes unexpected turns, leading us down paths we never imagined. About a year ago, I found myself at a crossroads in my career, yearning for a change. My role in customer service was fulfilling, but the increasing demands from upper management were becoming quite the challenge. It was time for a new adventure.

The Lightbulb Moment

That's when I stumbled upon the world of real estate—a place where I could chart my own course, free from rigid schedules and supervisors. It was an opportunity to build a business from the ground up, and the idea was nothing short of exhilarating. 

Embracing Humility and Continuous Learning

As I embarked on this journey, humility became my guiding star. In the ever-evolving landscape of real estate, there's always something new to learn, trends to follow, and clients to serve. I'm here to soak in wisdom from every experience and every person I meet.

Why "Agent Matt"?

Now, you might be wondering, "Why 'Agent Matt'?" Well, that's a story with a touch of nostalgia and a dash of inspiration. I chose "Agent Matt" because I wanted people to feel comfortable and at ease when they worked with me. The name brought to mind the character "Agent Andy" from the TV show Bones—a character who exuded warmth, approachability, and trustworthiness. It just felt like the perfect fit for me.

The Realities of Lead Generation

Initially, I envisioned a steady stream of eager leads, ready to embark on their real estate journey with me. However, the reality was different. Many were hesitant, not quite ready to take the plunge, or simply cautious about working with a new realtor. 

Navigating the Challenges

I've encountered my fair share of challenges along the way. There was that one client who turned out to be quite different from what they portrayed, teaching me valuable lessons in due diligence. And then, there was the individual with sky-high expectations and a credit score that needed some elevation.

A Humbling Experience

Through these experiences, I've come to understand that not every client will be a perfect fit. There are ups and downs, and sometimes, it feels like a series of setbacks before a breakthrough.  But it's all part of the journey, and I'm committed to persevering.

Life's Hectic Moments

Life outside of real estate has been equally hectic since obtaining my license. Our home has become a construction zone, with renovations taking over. It's been over three months, but my husband and I finally have a functional bathroom. The journey to this point has had its share of bumps, including a rather painful encounter with a porch step that resulted in my toenail deciding to take a break.

Adding to the adventure, I managed to break a small bone in my ankle while racing to retrieve something from our backyard. It's felt like one thing after another, but I'm hoping for smoother sailing ahead both in my new business and at home.

A Future of Comfort and Success

I look forward to getting more comfortable with my new real estate venture and having the chance to finally relax in our renovated home. Here's to hoping that the accidents and surprises start to subside, allowing me to focus on what truly matters: helping clients find their dream homes and achieving their real estate goals.

Remembering Eugene

In the midst of all these changes and challenges, there's one thing that's been a constant source of heartache. Over a year ago, I had to say goodbye to my beloved best friend, Eugene. He was more than just a dog; he was family. Eugene was the best companion anyone could ever wish for, and his absence still feels fresh and painful.
